FAREWELL TO THE PSYCHIATRIC ZOO

You’ve been living in a psychiatric zoo, being fed boring, mass-produced food, doing hard time too
There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you, even walk with wet feet in torn shoes, searching for clues
On how to ease your suffering, may songbirds sing for you and those walls fade away to nothing
They’re too busy searching for contraband that they don’t understand just what they’re destroying
Undeniably ruining your life, like a coward battering his fed up wife, holding you hostage inside
Taken for a ride as they try to strip you of all pride, at times it may feel like you won’t get out alive
But you will one fine day, not running uphill anymore or under attack, you will get your freedom back
No longer bound by chains or power games, there’s an end to your pain, your one life back on track
I’ll be waiting in the wings until something gives and they’re no longer denying you your autonomy
Until then I’ll be fighting for you, writing songs for you, doing anything it takes to make you happy

After the rain, comes a silver lining
We’ll be together, though there’s been bad timing
After the rain, comes a silver lining
Wash away the pain, the sun will start shining

They’ve been playing you for a fool, imposing their stupid rules, always keeping tabs on what you do
But there’s a crack in the fault line, rebellion’s tack growing over time, no longer shall they control you
You engage in your own form of cooking when nobody’s looking, as something big grows from nothing
You’ve broken free from restraints, having fun within constraints even though the phone never rings
Goodness injected within the threshold as records spin, amplifying the sound of freedom tenfold
Discarded insulin syringe, the evidence of sin, but you should take their drugs instead as you’re told
Swallow all the poison that you’re fed, battery in your head, don’t be defiant, be a compliant guinea pig
It’s their own graves that they dig, as you’re no longer taking it, breaking the fortress down bit by bit
By now you’ve had enough of their shit, feel like stabbing them with dirty fits, not your idea of bliss
Living day by day in this hole that’s so empty and cold, same old same old every day, had enough of this

After the rain, comes a silver lining
We’ll be together, though there’s been bad timing
After the rain, comes a silver lining
Wash away the pain, the sun will start shining

They may have you in a cage and shackled by chemical chains, but you will never give up, nor submit
They won’t change your non-compliant ways in defiant days, as you start a blaze and have fun doing it
High time to chuck a fit, kicking up a furious storm as you continue to depart from their stultifying norms
Laying out the hits with your sharpened wit, putting forth the arguments that knock theirs to the floor
What are you waiting for? Show them what you’ve got in store, give them a piece of your indignant mind
Break those ridiculous laws with seashells washed up upon the shore, the truth shall prevail in good time
What they’re doing is simply obscene, the orders passed on to the treating team can’t be justified by any means
All the dark times that you’ve seen, time for you to do a spring clean, do things as you damn well please
For they’re spreading a disease in the form of misery, the more they push, the more they make you angry
If they don’t set you free, you’re willing to resort to force, bombs in the door, one day soon, they’ll be sorry

After the rain, comes a silver lining
We’ll be together, though there’s been bad timing
After the rain, comes a silver lining
Wash away the pain, the sun will start shining
